About Me.Over the past couple of years, whilst struggling financially to support my three siblings and I, my mother lost her mother, sister, and brother. She never let that slow her down or let her internal sunshine stop beaming, though. During these times, my mother still went to her job as an assistant head nurse and helped others before she helped herself. Working long hours with a smile on her face, taking the weight of other's pain on her shoulders, she kept pushing through. Even in my mother’s darkest times, she showed me that it is important to put others before one’s self. My mother is my greatest role model and I desire to be as selfless as her. They say that you should strive to help those you love, so, GW, How Can I Help YOU?

I am an... Elliott School of International Affairs Undergraduate SenatorMy experience as a Student Association senator for Elliott School of International Affairs has been very memorable. Last year, I was a committee aide on the finance committee and watched Devan Cole and Nate Pasko lead finance committee. They both inspired me to take on a larger role in the senate and not leave after one year. Seeing how university funds were allocated to over 400 organizations made me feel content. I was able to directly help improve the student experience at GW through helping with minutes last year. This year, I was lucky enough to be able to vote on motions to fund cosponsorship requests. As the cohort captain for cultural and religious organizations, I was able to interact with organizations first hand and settle problems. Making their lives easier made me feel good. Now, I want to help on a larger scale

I am a... Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha FraternityThrough my experience with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. so far, I have been able to push personal limits and refine myself with the assistance of my brothers. Our aims are manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind. Our recent event that we hosted was The Resume Workshop. I was able to chair that event in District in January. It made me feel good to see the smiles on attendees’ faces when they received vital information that would help them in their future careers. Another event that we had was a yellow rose event on Valentine’s Day in which we delivered roses across campus. Small and big event like those push me to continue to serve my community. Through this position, I’ll be able to continue to do so.

I am... part of the GW community
As a student on the Mount Vernon campus freshman year in the Politics and Values program, I had a community of welcoming individuals to turn to whenever I needed personal or academic assistance. I remember staying late with them on movie nights and also our Secret Santa that we had. I received Pez dispensers and was so happy not because of the candy, but because I had a Pez dispenser of FDR, who just so happens to be one of my favorite presidents. These two events were just a glimpse of my experience on the Vern. But even as a Vernie, I still had those long nights in Gelman where I slept on the chairs and woke up every hour to study, or those long lunch breaks where I stood in line for 30 minutes just to get my Chick-fil-a. Being a member of this GW Community means many things to many different people, but it's through some of these shared experiences, friendships, and setbacks that we can grow together as a community.
